Privacy & cookies
This is a personal website. It exists so you can read what I've written and, if you like what you see, get in touch. Here is exactly what it collects and why.
What this site sets
Nothing that identifies you is stored until you choose Accept on the cookie notice. If you choose Essentials only, the only thing stored is your choice itself, so you are not asked again.
| Name | Purpose | Set when | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
dk_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies. | You make a choice | 180 days |
Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) | Counts page views and which links people use to contact me (WhatsApp, email, phone, LinkedIn). IP addresses are anonymised. | Only after Accept | Up to 2 years |
Google Ads conversion (_gcl_*) | Tells Google Ads when a visit from an ad leads to a contact, so I can see which ads are worth running. | Only after Accept | 90 days |
Before you accept, Google's tags run in "consent mode" with everything denied: no cookies are written and no advertising identifiers are used.
What happens when you contact me
The WhatsApp button opens a conversation on your own WhatsApp account with my number, with a short pre-filled message you can edit or delete. The email links open your own mail client. Nothing is sent anywhere until you press send. Whatever you share with me stays between us and is used only to reply to you.
Changing your mind
Use the link in the footer of any page to see the notice again and change your choice. You can also clear cookies and site data for dkearney.com in your browser.
